Thematic Hermeneutics

Approach each book of the Bible thematically

An example of a thematic hermeneutical approach to the Bible would be the term “FAITH”.  In each book, the word ‘faith” is used but within the writer's theme or context, it is used with a very different and distinct meaning.

As we approach the word of God with a pair of thematic glasses we notice right away the different concepts that are being used by each individual author.

A topical study of the word “faith” in its thematic setting will reveal the overriding meaning the author intended.  But we must always remember that each book must be interpreted within the meaning of its own thematic context.  It must not be interpreted in isolation.
