Minute Message Tasks

Let's Dig

The Bible shows us many truths in many different applications. One such way is through types. God thought very highly of them, and if He made them such an important part of His word- How ought we to be?

One example is found in Hebrews 8:5, where The Lord declares,
“who serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things, just as Moses was warned by God when he was about to erect the tabernacle; for, "SEE," He says, "THAT YOU MAKE all things ACCORDING TO THE PATTERN WHICH WAS SHOWN YOU ON THE MOUNTAIN."

  • Find a type (foreshadow) in Scripture and study it.
  • Look for the type and its fulfillment.  Or look for a type and its future fulfillment.
  • Find its meaning.  Dig!
  • Find out how it relates to Jesus

The treasures they hold of the richest of God/Jesus are absolutely divinely inspiring!

Biblical Faith

WHAT IS BIBLICAL FAITH?
Eph. 2:8-10

"Faith is the daring of the soul to go farther than it can see" It is deaf to doubt, dumb to discouragement, blind to impossibilities and knows nothing but success in God. Faith is the principal element that makes victorious living possible. (1 Jn. 5:4)

The Bible says, "That no man is Justified by the law before God is evident: for the righteous man shall live by Faith" (Gal. 3:11).

The Believers Spiritual Eye Exam pt4

By Rev Deb

"Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom".  Prov. 11:2

Panoramic
The Wise (wide) seeker

The dictionary defines panoramic as: an unobstructed and wide view of
an extensive area in all directions.”

In our fourth and final series of the “believers spiritual eye exam” we will be focusing our attention on the panoramic believer and how this group of believers is compared to the good soil (good heart) of Mathew 13

Thematic Hermeneutics

Approach each book of the Bible thematically

An example of a thematic hermeneutical approach to the Bible would be the term “FAITH”.  In each book, the word ‘faith” is used but within the writer's theme or context, it is used with a very different and distinct meaning.

As we approach the word of God with a pair of thematic glasses we notice right away the different concepts that are being used by each individual author.

A topical study of the word “faith” in its thematic setting will reveal the overriding meaning the author intended.  But we must always remember that each book must be interpreted within the meaning of its own thematic context.  It must not be interpreted in isolation.

The Believers Spiritual Eye Exam Pt 3

By Rev Deb

Tunnel Vision- the prejudice cold fish

THERE IS NO LIGHT AT THE END OF THIS TUNNEL

The narrow-minded believer can be compared to the hard heart of Mathew 13.

Tunnel vision is defined as a drastically narrowed field of vision, as in looking through a tube.  An extremely narrow or prejudiced outlook- narrow-minded.

The Bible has this to say about tunnel vision.

“There is A WAY which SEEMS RIGHT to a man and APPEARS STRAIGHT before him, but at the end of it is the way of death.”   Proverbs 14:12 (Amplified Bible)

Believers with tunnel discomfort often show an unwillingness to listen to or tolerate other people's views.  Tunnel or narrow-minded believers have only one view- "their own." These viewers are the type that only feels good when voicing their own opinions.  This type of believer lives by their own set of rules while having a stricter set of rules for everyone else.  Failing to live up to this strict set of rules, results in severed friendships, problematic relationships and or even divorce.

The Believers Spiritual Eye Exam Pt 2

It's all on the outside                                                                       By Rev Deb

THE PERIPHERAL VISION BELIEVER

As mentioned in part 1of this study, peripheral vision is defined as one who sees from the sides of their eyes. peripheral vision only focuses on things outside of the line of vision and is insensitive to color.  A believer with this condition can be compared to the worrywart shallow heart of Matthew. 13.

The Worrywart!

“But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and began to sink.”  Matt. 14:30

The peripheral believer becomes troubled by the storms of life that pop up from the shadowy sides of their vision.  The problems that crop up from the sidelines of life, (bills relationships, jobs, family...) cause them to worry about what others may think, where the money will come from to pay the bills, what will I do if I lose my job etc, etc…  This causes their perception to become clouded by doubt and in turn, creates a cascading effect which defeats any action of stepping out and moving forward in their faith.  They end up missing out on the Lord's colorful plan for them by enslaving themselves to the shadows of doubt and fear.

The Believers Spiritual Eye Exam pt1

AN OPTICAL TEST FOR BELIEVERS!

It's In The Eye Of The Beholder

By Rev Deb

The basic four vision types

1.  Myopia vision: a shortsightedness or nearsightedness

2.  Peripheral vision: a side vision. It focuses on the things outside of the line of vision.  It is insensitive to color.

3.  Tunnel vision, it is limited to the center of the field of view.  A narrow viewpoint resulting from concentration on only one aspect of a subject or situation.  The visual field is severely constricted.

4.  Panoramic vision, an unbroken view of the entire picture or surroundings.  The act of SEEING.
